Objective To measure and estimate the dose of radiation received in children’s photography and to assess whether children’s exposure to radiation exceeds the reference dose level (DRL). Methods A total of 255 children aged 0-18 years were enrolled in this study. The examination sites included the chest, head, pelvis, and spine. The body surface incident dose (ESD) of each patient was measured. Measuring instruments using thermoluminescence dosimeter. By grouping by age and site of examination, the mean ESD for each group was calculated and then the effective dose was estimated using the conversion factors provided in the literature. Results Except for chest photography, most of the experimental ESDs tested were below the DRL recommended by NRPB and EC. Conclusion In pediatric photography, patients should not receive more than the DRL dose; optimization measures should be taken to reduce unnecessary radiation dose.
