国际桥协学术讨论会是配合日本建成通车的明石海峡大桥而召开的,是继1994年在法国召开(配合诺曼第大桥)和1995年在香港召开(配合青马大桥)的两次国际会议后,又一次讨论大跨结构的重要会议。会议于1998年9月2～4日在神户国际会议中心召开,由国际桥协日本国分组负责主办,组委会主席伊藤学。国际上桥梁界一些著名教授学者都参加了会议,如德 The International Bridge Symposium was held in conjunction with the opening of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Japan and was followed by two international conferences held in France in 1994 (in conjunction with the Normandy Bridge) and in Hong Kong in 1995 (in conjunction with the Tsing Ma Bridge) After that, another important meeting on long-span structure was discussed.
