1. Introduction Thorium reagent is a sensitive reagent for the determination of thorium and some rare earth elements. As early as 1963, Sangal and Dey of India applied thoron I to photometric analysis of platinum group elements. Palladium, ruthenium, rhodium analysis obtained satisfactory results. The properties of thoron Ⅱ and thoron Ⅰ are basically the same. Since thoron Ⅱ was synthesized in 1959, it has been widely used in the analysis.
