Recalling his involvement in declaring Villages as a World Heritage Site, an official recalled that one of the major tasks after my arrival at UNESCO was to apply for the World Heritage Site for Chengde Mountain Resort. World Cultural Heritage After UNESCO adopted the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage on November 16, 1972, UNESCO established the World Commission on Cultural and Natural Heritage and established a World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Each year, the committee selects a part of the protection projects submitted by the various countries to be added to the list.
