Although diamonds are eternal, optical sensors mounted on the ring may preserve the body’s life. Researchers at MIT are developing a ring for continuous internal monitoring of vital organs in patients. At present, this ring is used to measure the pulse rate and oxygen content of the patient’s blood. Measurement of blood pressure and blood chemistry is underway.
