中国古典园林艺术,作为一种造型艺术,既是中国古代社会形态发展的艺术反映,又是中国传统文化的一种载体。它深受传统文化中其他艺术门类的影响,更摆脱不了中国古典哲学的影响与控制。不同时代的园林艺术风格总会在很大程度上反映着当时人们的宇宙观和审美观的趋向。现存的中国古典园林多是明清时存留下来的。明清以前的园林,我们只能到古籍文献和考古发掘中去寻觅。在《诗经·大雅》中有《灵台》一诗,诗中歌颂了周文王和他的灵台、灵囿、灵沼和辟雍等。唐初李泰的《括地志》载:“辟雍、灵沼,今悉无复处,惟灵台孤立,高二丈,周
