Entering the background In the summer of 1991, due to the forcible independence of the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia, a massive armed conflict took place in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In November, the southern Federal Government sent a letter to the UN Security Council requesting the United Nations to send peacekeeping troops. Separated belligerents. On December 15, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 724 and decided to send a forward UNOMS unit to the former Yugoslav region to prepare for the deployment of the peacekeeping force. On February 21 of the following year, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 743, which approved the dispatch of 14,000 peacekeeping troops to the former Yugoslavia. From March 8 to July 23, the basic deployment of 14,000 peacekeepers has been completed.
