In the early 1990s, on the basis of the research on human factors of modern aviation, CAAC started a series of revision work on its pilot selection procedures. With the gradual increase of air traffic density, the advent of new jet airliners and the continuous extension of international airlines, the need for high-quality pilots will be even more urgent in the future. In 1994, CAAC and Lufthansa German Airlines worked together to evaluate the adaptability of the more mature pilot selection program in Germany under the Chinese cultural background. The test system includes personality, psychomotor, and measurement and evaluation of competency factors such as aeronautical knowledge and operations. After a series of adaptation and cultural adaptation, 346 Chinese flight candidates were tested by this system. The results show that compared with German candidates, Chinese subjects are significantly superior to German subjects in technical knowledge and mathematics ability, but their psychomotor and English listening ability are significantly lower than those of German sample. In 1998 with China Civil Aviation Flight Academy to carry out the validity of the test system.
