从剧作技巧和表现主题两个方面对《进入黑夜的漫长旅程》和《李尔王》进行了比较分析,发现尤金·奥尼尔和莎士比亚虽然处于不同的时代,却运用了相同的剧作技巧和手段来外化人物内心的矛盾和挣扎,同时在表现主题上也对人类所面临的生存困境进行了思考和探索。由此笔者认为尤金·奥尼尔不仅是美国现代悲剧的创造者,更是传统悲剧的继承者。
A comparative analysis of the “long journey into the night” and “King Lear” from two aspects of playmanship and performance themes shows that although Eugene O’Neill and Shakespeare are in different times, they use the same play skills And means to externalize the inner contradictions and struggles of the characters, and at the same time, they also think and explore the predicament faced by mankind on the theme of performance. Therefore, I think Eugene O’Neill is not only the creator of modern American tragedies but also the successor of traditional tragedies.
