Recently, Thomas Swan, located in northeast England, expanded its use of Elicarb graphene materials for the manufacture of carbon fiber composite prototypes. The preliminary test results on unidirectional carbon fiber fabrics are encouraging. Adding 1% by mass of Elicarb graphene to the epoxy resin resulted in an increase in flexural strength and modulus of the fabricated carbon fiber laminate. This finding inspired Thomas Swan to conduct further research to produce commercial carbon fiber prepregs. The manufacture of these prototypes is done in cooperation with an experienced third party.
