Objective To investigate the expression of Ang-1, Ang-2 and its receptor Tie-2 in the blood circulation of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and its clinical significance. Methods 68 patients with poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma admitted to our hospital from May 2009 to June 2010 were enrolled in the study. Among them, 52 were male and 16 were female, with a median age of 42 (19-65) years 32 cases were initially treated, 20 cases were completely relieved, 16 cases were relapsed) and 20 cases of healthy control. The levels of Ang-1, Ang-2 and their receptor Tie-2 were detected. Results The serum levels of Ang-1, Ang-2 and its receptor Tie-2 in patients with primary and recurrent NPC were significantly higher than those in patients with complete remission and healthy controls (P <0.01), and the levels of these molecules were completely relieved Group and healthy control group no significant difference (P> 0.05). The levels of Ang-2 and Tie-2 in NPC patients with different T stages and clinical stages were significantly different (P <0.05), and with the progression of NPC, the levels of Ang-2 and Tie-2 were higher in different T stages (P> 0.05). There was significant difference in Ang-2 levels between different N stages (P <0.05). The level of serum Ang-2 and its receptor Tie-2 in patients with NPC metastasis was significantly higher than that in patients without metastasis (P <0.01). The serum Ang-1 / Ang-2 ratio in stage Ⅰ + Ⅱ NPC was higher than that in stage Ⅲ + IVa (P <0.01). Conclusions Ang-1, Ang-2 and their receptor Tie-2 play an important role in the occurrence and development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and are closely related to the invasion and metastasis of the tumor.
