There is a perception that science has made itself so serious that something needs to be done - or someone - to occasionally break the serious atmosphere that often surrounds science so that outsiders do not feel scared of science. Science comic artists can do this, so science cartoons play a natural role throughout the science endeavor. One of the most accessible 'cartoonists in this school is Sidney Harris of the United States.
