President Xi Jinping recently announced at the Ninth Summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) leaders that China will adopt the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) of the International Monetary Fund. Some analysts believe that this indicates that China’s economic data will be more transparent. In March 1996, the IMF developed the SDDS to guide members in delivering economic and financial data to the public.
