众所周知,通风动力成本与风量的立方成正比。也就是说,风量增加一倍,通风动力成本就增加到原来的8倍;同样,如果矿井风量减小一半,它的通风动力成本就只需原成本的八分之一。因此,在矿井通风中,除工作面所需的风量外,多余的风量所造成的动力成本损失是巨大的。此外,选择型号太大的风机,又不能调低其负载,同样也导致能耗增加,动力成本上升。
