新千年的印度英语文学在无声无息中绽放出耀眼的辉煌,且硕果累累。从2001年问鼎诺贝尔文学奖的V.S.奈保尔到2008年布克奖的获得者阿拉文德·阿迪加,一系列重大奖项对印度英语文学的青睐,无一不说明印度文学的繁荣前景和研究价值。过去十年间,众多印度英语小说家不断走进读者的视线,其中,小说《烟河》的作者阿米塔夫·戈什(Amitav Ghosh,1956—)不容忽视。
The new millennium of Indian English literature in the silent glory bloom brilliant dazzling, and fruitful. From VS Naipaul, who won the Nobel Prize in literature in 2001, to Allamand Adgar, the 2008 Booker Prize winner, a series of major awards favor Indian English literature, all of which illustrate the prosperous prospects and research of Indian literature value. Over the past decade, many Indian novelists have been continuously moving into the reader’s mind. Among them, Amitav Ghosh (1956-), author of the novel River of the Smoke, can not be ignored.
