This article reveals the historical and cultural roots of the qualitative research method “center-periphery ” predicament and the long-term marginalization and aphasia of non-Anglo-American regional studies under the influence of this predicament. The Anglo-American qualitative research methods and technologies occupy the “center” position of leading intellectual production. Non-British and American scholars and their indigenous studies are labeled as “non-modernized.” In order to break this situation, this paper focuses on the problem of the basis of ontology and epistemology relied upon by the Anglo-American qualitative research methods and analyzes the valuable legacy (such as holism and change) left by Chinese philosophical thought for qualitative research, Colleagues devoted themselves to the discussion of the localization of qualitative research methods.
