MTU 12V 956和16V956发动机约已有800台用于铁路牵引、船舶推进和发电。在此基础上,发展了包括12,16和20缸机型的956/1163双系列发动机,其功率范围是1,800~4,400千瓦(2,450~6,000马力)。双系列发动机的特点是缸径相同,为230毫米;但行程与转速不同,956系列是230毫米、转速为1,350~1,600转/分,1163系列是280毫米,转速为1,000~1,200转/分;两系列的功率范围相同。众所周知,作为一个机型系列的大部分零部件应该通用,而此双系列发动机限制了零部件在短行程和长行程变型机之间广泛通用。这就须保证可用同一生产设备来生产不通用的零件。
Approximately 800 MTU 12V 956 and 16V956 engines are used for railway traction, marine propulsion and power generation. On this basis, the 956/1163 twin-engine series including the 12, 16 and 20-cylinder models has been developed with a power range of 1,800 to 4,400 kW (2,450 to 6,000 hp). The dual-series engine is characterized by the same bore, 230 mm; but the travel and speed, the 956 series is 230 mm, speed of 1,350 ~ 1,600 rev / min, 1163 series is 280 mm, speed of 1,000 ~ 1,200 rev / The power range of the series is the same. As we all know, most parts as a model series should be common, and this dual-series engine limits the common parts between short-stroke and long-stroke variants. This must ensure that the same production equipment can be used to produce substandard parts.
