我国目前除已经或计划修建复线的铁路外,据不完全统计尚有22条单线铁路的若干区段共8000多公里的能力利用率已达到或超过了75%。有关专题报告在总结运营经验并作了理论分析后指出,单线铁路的能力利用率达到75%即应适时改造,延误改造时机将造成施工与运输的严重干扰,损失很大。因此,上述线路都应尽快进行改造。此外尚有不少单线铁路(如焦枝铁路、黎湛铁路)目前的能力利用率
