Ornithine decarboxylase enzyme (OAZ), a protein that plays an important regulatory role in cell growth and differentiation, has a unique translational shift mechanism, an important regulatory role in polyamines metabolism and the induction of some intracellular important macromolecules Non-ubiquitin-dependent degradation of much attention of researchers. This article summarizes the current understanding of the mechanism of OAZ and explores its role in cellular activity from the regulation of cell cycle, differentiation, apoptosis and genetic stability. In recent years, OAZ has become a potential target for cancer therapy, and in solid tumors such as liver cancer cells and lung cancer cells, the overexpression of OAZ is significantly correlated with cell growth inhibition, indicating its anti-tumor properties. Help to fully tap the anti-enzyme in the treatment of cancer value.
