城市雕塑正在全国范围内振兴,雕塑的出路越来越广,但雕塑的创作道路该怎样走下去,才适合我们这个国家和这个时代,却是一个不可回避的课题。如果走得对,人民就会需要它;如果走得不对,人民也会唾弃它。好的城雕是一个国家文明的标志,不好的城雕却会丢失国家体面。好与不好的标准,除了技术水平之外,内容固然是决定因素,但形式与风格也不能等闲视之。我们是二十世纪八十年代的中国人,艺术也应具有二十世纪八十年代风格。因此在艺术上就要探索民族性的时代性的问题。
