利用岩石的天然剩余磁性,研究地貭历史时期古地磁場的变化規律,就是所謂的古地磁学。根据古地磁学的原理和方法,对比不同地区岩层形成年代的相互关系,就是所謂地层的古地磁对比。1960年在綜合了已有的地貭資料和进行典型剖面的野外观測的基础上,采用古地磁的方法对川滇中生代紅层的对比問題作了初步的研究。所得結果表明:分别由川滇两地中生代紅层的岩石标本所測得的紅层形成时期的古地磁极位置,十分接近,都是在現代地理座标的北緯65度、东經145度地区附近。对比已有的成果,这个位置是在侏罗纪古地磁极位置的可能范围以內。因此結論认为,川滇中生代紅层(祿丰組、自流井組、重庆羣)可能同属洙罗紀的产物。过去认为应属上三迭統的云南祿丰紅层和一平浪煤系,看来有提高其层位的必要。
Using the natural residual magnetism of rocks, the study of the variation law of the paleomagnetic field in the historical period is the so-called paleomagnetism. According to the principles and methods of paleomagnetism, comparing the correlations of rock formation ages in different areas is the paleomagnetic contrast of the so-called strata. On the basis of synthesizing the existing terrestrial data and field observations in 1960, a preliminary study on the contrast between the Mesozoic red beds in Sichuan and Yunnan Province was made by using the paleomagnetic method. The results show that the palaeomagnetic pole positions of the red beds during the formation of the red beds measured by the Mesozoic red beds in both Sichuan and Yunnan are close to each other, all of which are located at 65 degrees north latitude and 145 degrees east longitude in the modern geographical coordinates . In contrast to what has been achieved, this location is within the possible range of paleomagnetic poles in the Jurassic. Therefore, the conclusion is that the Mesozoic red beds of Chuan-Dian (Lufeng Formation, Ziliujing Formation and Chongqing Formation) may be the products of the so-called " It seems that there is a need to raise the level of the strata in Yunnan in the past when it was thought that it should belong to the Triassic Yunnan Lufeng Red Layer and the Hepinglian Coal Measures.
