There are 272 Chinese medicine staff in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Division of general and specialist hospitals in and around Nanjing, including 20 senior professional titles and 77 intermediate professional titles. In 1997, a survey was conducted on the TCM departments of 27 general and specialist hospitals at or above the county level in the city. The results showed that the total number of outpatients of TCM departments in 27 hospitals was 450,000 in the whole year, which was almost equivalent to that of the city in the same period. Outpatient volume of a city-level Chinese medicine hospital; total sales volume of traditional Chinese medicine in traditional Chinese medicine is 3130 yuan, accounting for 28% of total sales of 27 hospitals;
