OBJECTIVE: To study the relationship between the trigeminal nerve of the cerebral cistern and the adjacent vessels in the subjects without trigeminal neuralgia in Tu district of Enshi by contrast enhanced 3D-CE-TOF-SPGR. Methods 50 cases of Enshi Tujia nationality without trigeminal neuralgia underwent enhanced axial 3D-TOF-SPGR sequence. Combined with multiplanar reconstruction images, the relationship between the trigeminal nerve of the bilateral cerebral cistern and adjacent blood vessels was observed to see if there was a responsibility Vascular compression of the trigeminal nerve; and non-ethnic minority areas reported in the literature were compared to determine whether there are differences. Results Totally 100 cases of 100 trigeminal nerves and adjacent vessels were shown clearly in all subjects. According to the distances between the trigeminal nerve and the adjacent vessels, they were divided into three groups: 74 (74%), 24 (24%), (2%). The results were compared with those reported in the non-tribal region without trigeminal neuralgia (77 separate, 77%, 23 contacts, 23%). Test, trigeminal nerve and peripheral vascular exposure and compression of the proportion of no significant difference (χ ~ 2 = 0.2433, P = 0.6218). Conclusion The 3D-CE-TOF-SPGR sequence can be used to display the relationship between the trigeminal nerve and the adjacent blood vessels. There is no difference in the contact and compression rate between the trigeminal nerve without trigeminal neuralgia and adjacent microvascular in non-minority ethnic group and Enshi Tujia ethnic group. The results may provide evidence for the etiology of trigeminal neuralgia in Enshi minority population.
