对《申报》广告进行检视,不难发现,1889年的影戏广告仅出现在10月和11月,仅有万花楼和桃源趣两位兼顾书寓弹唱京调等各色演出的广告主,但这一年的影戏广告,呈现出“人比片重要,地比戏重要”的特征。具体而言,首先,这一年放映的影戏,内容和形式上,相较于1888年,无太大革新,但影戏的放映者,或带来影戏的人,很可能是推动电影发明的Muybridge。其次,放映影戏的场所桃源趣,在年末日本奇伎的演出广告中,给后人提供诸多启示。
