谷子单株生产力的高低,主要由构成单株产量的穗成粒数所决定。每穗成粒数(x)的多少与单株生产力(y)呈高度正相关。y=0.1549+0.00289x(r=0.9988 n=22)。穗粒数是由每穗颖花数和饱谷率决定的。颖花数的多少从苗期开始就受到各项技术措施的左右,直接影响的是在幼穗分化期的栽培条件。对饱谷率影响最大的则在减数分裂期和抽穗开花期(形成空粒)以及灌浆初期至灌浆盛期(形成秕粒)。
