Judah Folkman, a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School, recently told the Ciba Foundation in London that a protein called platelet factor 4 in platelets can stop the sudden growth of small capillaries that supply tumor nutrition. In the menstrual cycle, embryonic development and wound healing, there is usually blood vessel growth.
