On June 16, Audi confirmed that Stefan Knirsch, its powertrain development director, will be leaving the company, which has already submitted his resignation to Audi, but his whereabouts are still unknown. Konecranes joined Audi Power Systems in late 2013 as head of the unit, and prior to that he was responsible for Porsche quality management and engine development. His departure may stem from Audi’s higher demands for technological innovation. Audi has been pushing the slogan “Technology leads the future” since the 1970s, but in recent years Audi has been criticized by some auto industry analysts for its relative laggard in technological innovation and new car development.
