我拍矿工源于一次偶然。有次我到山里拍风光片,闲聊中听说当地有很多小煤矿,好奇心驱使我想去看看。正巧当地一位朋友的亲戚在矿上当矿长,当即联系,驱车赶到。车刚停下,迎面从矿口涌出一群“黑人”,他们浑身煤尘,手、工具和衣服因在劳动中反复摩擦,泛着铅质般的黑亮,仅有眼睛和牙齿是白的,仿佛一尊尊“铅雕”。我被这从未见过的情景所震撼,我抓起相机,伴随着狂烈的心跳与激动,一口气拍了很多很多。 第一眼的震撼难以忘却。我决意把矿工作为一个专题进行拍摄。这一决意大概同自己的经历与爱好有关。我出生在工人家庭,从小爱好摄影,学生时代经常“学工学农”,高中毕业“上山下乡”,当过兵,打过仗,骨子里特爱记录生活在社会底层的劳动者。 I shot miners from a chance.
