Many visitors to the 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo have been deeply impressed by a picturesque sunken garden known as Splendid Valley. The garden was formerly an abandoned landfill. Nowadays, more and more Chinese cities and families have been taking bold action to pursue green, floral lifestyles.
In China, horticulture has gained popularity among more and more citizens. Not only have many flower markets and nursery bases sprouted throughout the country, people have also been purchasing seeds and seedlings on the internet. If conditions permit, one can even rent a small plot of land and transform it into a vibrant garden as painter Liu Zheng did –featured in this issue.
