Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a public mental health problem that poses a serious medical burden to individuals and society. One out of every 6 people has this etiology and complex clinical manifestations at some stage of its life course. There is currently no reliable biomarker identification among high-risk groups in adolescents. Owens, MD, Ph.D., Department of Psychology, University of Cambridge, conducted a population-based survey of current MDD risk factors, self-reported current depressive symptoms, and morning cortisol levels.
