In this paper, we report the results of the HgBr (B ~ 2Σ ~ + → X ~ 2Σ ~ +) 502nm laser oscillation controlled by electron beam in Xe-HgBr_2 mixed gas. The instantaneous photoelectric energy conversion efficiency is measured at 2%, which is markedly high in the (?) N2-HgBr2 gas mixture, which shows that it is possible to obtain 5-10% efficiency under optimal conditions. The province of HgBr (B ~ 2Σ ~ + -X ~ 2Σ ~ +) laser operating at 502nm may be an important light source in the spectral region of blue margin. The excitation of this laser transition has been achieved by using the discharge dissociative excitation HgBr2 molecule. With N 2 -HgBr 2 mixed gas, the photoelectric conversion efficiency obtained is in the range of 0.5 to 1.0%.
