The four herbicides contain Dow Corning’s chlorofluoropyridine esters, of which 3 herbicides can only be used for rice and another herbicide can be used for rice and aquatic crops. The US Environmental Protection Agency stated that chlorofluoropyridine esters are safer to human health and the environment and have a reduced risk profile compared to previously registered herbicides. The only three herbicides that can only be used for rice are GF-3206 (25.2g/L chlorofluoropyridine ester), GF-3480 (20.4g/L chlorofluoropyridine ester + 99.6g/L cyanide).
