棉酚的抗生育效果早已肯定,但停药后生育力的恢复却有较明显的个体差异,约有1/3大鼠在灌服棉酚並长期停药后其曲细精管仍处于萎缩状态。为了解睾丸对棉酚敏感性的个体差异以及设法防止棉酚造成生精上皮不可逆的损伤,对棉酚在血液中的浓度与睾丸萎缩的关系进行了观察。
Gossypol has a long history of antifertility, but there are obvious individual differences in the recovery of fertility after withdrawal. About one third of the rats are still in atrophy after feeding gossypol and long-term withdrawal status. To understand the individual differences in testosterone sensitivity to gossypol and to try to prevent the gossypol from causing irreversible damage to the seminiferous epithelium, the relationship between the concentration of gossypol in the blood and testicular atrophy was observed.
