Since most liquid crystal display devices use a polarizer, the test of the parameters is similar to that of a polarizer. The system’s polarized response may affect the accurate evaluation of certain parameters. By analyzing LCT5016, a parametric test system for liquid crystal devices, we found that the spectrometer’s polarization-dependent sensitivity and partially polarized light sources have severely affected some of the test results. A series of methods to eliminate polarization responses were explored, including the testing process and the design of the optical system. The compensator we designed effectively eliminates polarized components over the entire visible spectrum. These methods can be used to eliminate the polarizing response in typical optical test systems.
