臭氧是一种具有特殊臭味的气体,可作为氧化剂和杀菌剂。紫外线照射、放射线照射、无声放电等均可产生。臭氧的毒性,特别是低浓度的臭氧,人们往往不够重视。紫外线之类的诱变效应众所周知,人们都注意防护,但是对紫外线照射时产生的以及照射后残余的臭氧则不注意防护。高浓度臭氧作为一种刺激性毒气使人头痛、胸闷、晕眩,长时间暴露在15—20ppm浓度的臭氧中就可能有生命危险。
