杨贤江之所以能够成为我国第一位马克思主义教育理论家,是因为在当时的环境下内因与外因交互作用的结果。仔细分析,应时所趋是杨贤江成为马克思主义教育理论家的精神特质;自动主义是杨贤江成为马克思主义教育理论家的内在原因;革命精神是杨贤江成为马克思主义教育理论家的不二法宝;关键人物是杨贤江成为马克思主义教育理论家的外在因素。此外,基于当时社会环境的变迁、基于教育教学的实践、基于家庭的大力支持等,也是杨贤江成为我国第一位马克思主义教育理论家的原因。
