The economic and trade exchanges between China and Britain have a long history. As early as the 17th century, China’s silk, ceramics, lacquer ware, tea and other commodities entered the British market. After the founding of New China in 1949, Britain was the earliest Western country to recognize China. One of the countries, China and Britain have developed bilateral trade since the establishment of diplomatic relations in the 1950s. In 1954, the Chinese trade delegation was invited to visit Britain for the first time. This is the first official delegation I sent to western countries after the founding of New China. It has strongly promoted the development of Sino-British economic and trade relations. In the 1960s, the average annual trade volume between China and Britain increased to 220 million U.S. dollars, and in the 1970s it rose to an average annual level of 550 million U.S. dollars.
