In today’s industrial age, when people refer to the term “environment,” the first thing that comes to mind is the deterioration of the environment caused by industrial development: pollution, drought, climate change, desertification, species extinction and more. Environmental philosophy that advocates the harmonious development of man and nature has existed since ancient times. In the ancient Chinese philosophy, such environmental ethics as Confucianism, “benevolence and love”, “banning”, “Taoism” and “harmony between man and nature” Farming time has clearly demonstrated the harmony of man and nature point of view. Since the industrialization for more than a century and a half, mankind has gained unprecedented wealth and has to face unprecedentedly harsh living conditions. Therefore, scholars who study environmental philosophy in modern times have gradually increased. Although environmental philosophy has not yet developed into mainstream philosophy in the West, environmental philosophers Many of the questions raised are attracting more and more attention. The development of industrial design, which started at the same time as the modern industry, has greatly enhanced the production efficiency of industrial products and enriched and improved people’s material life and material and cultural level. However, industrialization and industrial design have also caused and aggravated the contradiction between man and nature, deteriorating the human living environment. With the introduction of environmental philosophy, industrial design is no longer losing its humanitarian spirit due to the coercion of industry and the market, giving it more social responsibility.
