This article gives a brief overview of the geology, design investment, construction progress and production of the Ramko Iron Mine in Liberia. The Ramko iron ore mine is currently mining the Nimba iron ore body in northern Sri Lanka, about 300 kilometers from Monrovia, the capital of the country, with a dedicated railway linking Buchacham port (Figure 1). Ramco Iron Mine was constructed at the end of 1960 and put into production in May 1963. Its designed production capacity is 7.5 million tons of crude ore a year. The actual output in 1963 and 1964 was 240 and 7.2 million tons respectively. Ore exports to West Germany and other countries.
