弗兰克·奥康纳是20世纪著名的爱尔兰作家。他的代表作之一《国家客人》揭示了战争的残酷与荒唐。故事中刻画的“老妇人”形象奥康纳没有赋予其专名,使其含有深刻的蕴意。从奥康纳自身成长经历及小说中俘虏与老妇人的关系挖掘奥康纳的心理活动这一匠心独运地安排此角色的意义,揭示奥康纳通过复制亲情来呼吁反战的实际意义。
Frank O’Connor is a famous Irish writer of the twentieth century. One of his masterpieces, “State Guest,” reveals the brutality and absurdity of the war. The image of the “old woman” portrayed in the story O’Connor did not give its proper name, so that it contains a profound meaning. From O’Connor’s own growth experience and the relationship between the prisoners and the old woman in the novels, digging O’Connor’s psychological activities, this intentionally arrange the significance of this role, revealing O’Connor by copying the dear to appeal for the actual significance of anti-war.
