作為改良主义者而出现於北宋政治舞台的王安石,其生前舆身後所遭遇反對派種種惡毒的誹謗興誣蠛,經過清代直到现今若干学人的辛勤考辨■算大白於世了。关於安石的新政方面,亦清理出一個粗略的輪廓。但关於安石新法的來源問題,一般雖認為是來自於仁宗時代的李觏,而我們却不能够認可,不得不再予以老辨。乍一看來,李觏與安石既同是江西人,李觏又作過‘周禮致太平论’,安石不僅一生篤信‘周禮’,且曾將他幾項重要的新法從周禮上找出依據;像這樣的巧合,那么稱安石的一些改革主張源自李觀,似不該再有任何異議,可是,進一步檢討起來。這种說法實在不能够成立。安石雖然是江西人,但他與江西的关係却極其疏遠。自蔡上翔所撰的‘王荆公年譜考略’看來,安右大約在十歲以前及十四至十五之間居住在江西,此外則僑居於各地,就中金陵(南京)是他一个住得最久的地方。並在那儿落戶。同時,我們不僅自现存的李王的詩文中找不出他們酬酢之迹,印在其他的文献中也同樣的找不出他們交往的記载。所以,李觀雖是安石的先輩鄉賢,但却無法在這方面找出積極的证据来说明李觏曾給予安石什么样的影响。
