鸡皮刺螨(Dermanyssus gallinae)栖息于鸡舍内的栖架、缝隙、砖石下及尘土内,于夜间侵袭鸡体,是以吸食鸡体血液为生的一种体外寄生虫,亦可寄生于火鸡、鸽、金丝雀和几种野鸟。有关人类遭受侵袭的情况,Daniel等(1971)Sexton等(1975)曾报道过户外鸽窝中的鸡皮刺螨侵入房间和医院的报告。国内尚未见有报道。1984年夏季,山西省太谷县某校学生宿舍发现鸡皮刺螨侵入,夜间学生入睡后常被叮咬 Dermanyssus gallinae inhabit the perches, crevices, masonry and dust inside the chicken house and invade the chicken body at night.
