There are many ways to detect gentamicin. The most common biological method, but time-consuming, and susceptible to interference by other antibiotics. Radioimmunoassay and enzyme immunoassay greatly reduce the time required for the assay. Recently, a homogeneous enzyme assay for gentamicin has been published that takes only one minute per test. The authors used enzyme immunoassay, standard bioassay and radioimmunoassay to detect the patient’s serum gentamicin concentration. The results showed that there was a good correlation between enzyme immunoassay and biological and radioimmunoassay. The correlation coefficient between enzyme immunoassay and biological method was 0.947, and the correlation coefficient between enzyme immunoassay and radioimmunoassay was 0.977. t test showed no significant difference between the two intercept.
