笔者认为,在盆景制作和鉴赏标准中引进自然美、画境美、意境美的概念是符合美学原理的。由于盆景制作还特别依赖于表现技术,因此技术美也应是一个重要的方面。至于意境美,笔者认为它是一切艺术美的灵魂,也理所当然地应是盆景艺术美的灵魂。盆景艺术美如果离开了意境,就必须摘下“艺术”两字的桂冠,而不如干脆叫盆栽实在。事实上,《中国花卉盆景》刊登的盆景彩照中就有一部分作品尚只能划为盆栽的范围,因为它们在读者感受其美的时候,很难激发联想,更不用说在心灵上产生共鸣了。除了技术上的原因未能使作品达到盆景应有的形式美以外,最根本的原因还在于这些作品没有能运用盆景的
