Bows are as important as musical instruments; but in the past it was neglected and to some extent still so. Bows are now expensive, not good quality. Keep in mind Henderson’s words in his book How to Make a Violin Bow: “Without a bow, a violin is useless.” As far as I know, string players lack the bow design, structure, etc. There seems to be too much knowledge of people. As a result, the piano bow is overly dependent on subjective judgment. In the light of this, I would like to dedicate my readers an objective standard of self-righteousness to determine the suitability of a bow. It does not exclude subjective judgments, but it is intended to supplement it.
