我认为中国画创作精要在于笔墨之美,笔墨美是中国画在漫长的历史传统中逐渐生成,不段创新积累出来的民族精神的艺术结晶,故黄宾虹说:“国画民族性,非笔墨之中无所见。”中国画笔墨的表现力和审美价值,历来都是肯定的,只有混淆了中国画的界限,才能产生轻视笔墨的认识。可以说,笔墨及其结构乃是中国画的灵魂。中国画艺术的最高境界,就是要有笔墨。
