早露蟠桃是北京市农林科学院林果研究所1978年以撒花红蟠桃为母本,早香玉为父本杂交选育而成。该桃以其果形奇特、风味甘甜、肉质细嫩、果面鲜艳美观见长。该品种果实大、外观美、耐贮运,是一个很有发展前途的极早熟蟠桃优良品种。早露蟠桃在河北省保定市三月下旬萌芽,四月中旬为盛花期,六月上旬成熟。果实发育期六十三天左右,属极早熟蟠桃品种,果实横径7-8厘米,纵径2.5-3.5厘米,平均单果重87克,最大果重150克,果实呈扁平状,离核、核特小(直径1.5—2.0厘米)可食率95%,果面粉红,果肉白色,质地细嫩,少纤维而多汁,风味甘甜可口,含可溶性固形物13%以上,品质极佳。
