抽水蓄能电站的机组由水力机械和同步电机组成,这种同步电机称为发电电动机,目前单机容量已达10~50万千伏安,转频范围为100~750转/分,结构布置既有竖轴的(悬式或者伞式),也有横轴的。现代大型抽水蓄能电站的运行特点(在一昼夜内水泵水轮机组的运行方式变换频繁)对电机某些零部件结构提出了一些特殊要求。在研究大型可逆式机组的电机时,必需要考虑这样的一些特殊要求:
