作为生物多样性重要组成部分的作物种质资源多样性,是地球上极为重要的财富,更是人类赖以生存和发展的重要物质基础。作物种质资源多样性不仅包括在任何地区、任何时间所栽培的植物种及其所有品种的全部基因遗产,还包括它们的半驯化种、野生种和亲缘种,同时还应包括人们利用采、伐、摘、挖、放牧等手段而为人所用的各种植物种。这种遗产越多,即其多样性越丰富,改良栽培品种或选育新品种的潜力就越大。
