This article discusses a device that measures the speed of sound propagation in isolated and living human tissues. The device gives a 4-digit decimal sound speed reading of the sample relative to the speed of sound in water. The devices currently in place enable sonic velocity measurements to be taken once per second, plus one second to print out the measurement results.
